TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hi! I am Dena, I am from central New Jersey and I have been teaching since 2011. I am currently an enrichment & technology teacher for grades 1-4. I teach 300 students every week. Previously, I taught technology for grades 5 & 6, a 3rd & 4th grade homeroom, and self-contained special education. I absolutely love teaching! This is my passion and dream career.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hands On Activities - STEAM - Technology - Project Based Learning

  • Using STEAM activities in my classroom allows students to demonstrate creativity while designing. While promoting the art of exploration & discovery, I have found that my students operate on an independent basis as they work at their own speed while taking charge of their own education. STEAM incorporates teamwork, fine motor skills, problem solving, & other 21st century skills.
  • My student load is a hefty one, 350 students a week in five different grade levels. It is difficult to photocopy large packets & use new materials each week. Instead, I must use simple, low prep activities that still incorporate these foundational skills.
  • I know there are many educators in a the same position as me, which has inspired me to share my activities on TPT.
  • I hope your students benefit from these activities just as much as mine do!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

  • Teacher Who Makes Magic Award
  • Perfect Attendance Award (6 Years in a row!)
  • Grants: Robotics, 3D Printer, Google Cardboard, Chromebooks, Magformers

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I earned my BA in Elementary Education, Master's Degree in Special Education, and Post-Master's degree in Supervisor. Certifications: K-6, Special Education, Middle School Math & Science, and Supervisor.
